Averages: 74 fall yearling Angus bulls – $4,078; 48 fall and yearling Red Angus bulls – $3,250; 28 yearling Angus bulls – $2,705

Vaughn and Lois Meyer and family, along with Austin Risty and family hosted the 55th annual Sodak Angus bull sale at the ranch near Reva, SD, on Feb. 12. This sale offered differing age groups of bulls to accommodate buyers looking for bulls that will fit their programs. There were fall yearling Angus and Red Angus bulls along with spring yearling Angus and a handful of Red Angus bulls in the sale.

These bulls had been fed to express their genetic potential and not the value of the feed bucket. They were in good working condition, and not overfed to ensure soundness and longevity. The buyers will be even more impressed when the bulls are delivered.

High selling Angus bulls:

Lot 34, Sodak Bullseye X436, a September 8, 2010 son of Stevenson Bullseye 3R11 with EPDs of: BW 1.5, WW 47, YW 90 and Milk 28. Veal Black Angus, Meadow, SD was the buyer at $6,250.

Selling at $6,000 was lot 6, Sodak Sullivan X355, a July 28, 2010 son of Connealy Sullivan 83A that had a WW of 826 pounds This bull had a weaning ratio of 123 and yearling ratio of 113. Jeff Maier, Morristown, SD was the buyer.

Veal Black Angus purchased the next two top Angus lots at $5,750 each.

Lot 7, Sodak Program X361 is an August 2, 2010 son of HA Program 5652 with EPDs of: BW 2.3, WW 56, YW 93 and Milk 23.

Lot 8, Sodak Heaven X433 is an August 31, 2010 son of Sitz Upward with EPDs of: BW 10, WW 64, YW 98 and Milk 26.

Also selling at $5,250 was Lot 20, Sodak Beacon X367, an August 4, 2010 son of Sodak Beacon T566, a Future Direction son. This bull has EPDs of: BW 2.5, WW 50, YW 86 and Milk 19. Sold to Justin Bailey, Bonesteel, SD.

Topping the Red Angus bulls was Lot 84, Sodak Bullseye X323, an August 11, 2012 son of Sodak Bullseye U312, a Stevenson Bullseye son with EPDs of: BW 1.4, WW 39, YW 77 and Milk 21. This bull weaned off at 733 pounds with a yearling weight of 1146. Campbell Red Angus, McIntosh, SD was the buyer at $6,250.

Campbell also purchased Lot 88, Sodak Bullseye X466, a September 15, 2010 son of Sodak Bullseye U312 with EPDs of: BW 2.5, WW 36, YW 72 and Milk 22, for $5,250.

Selling at $4,750 was Lot 81, Sodak Bullseye, another son of Sodak Bullseye U312 with EPDs of: BW 1.3, WW 40, YW 74 and Milk 17. Jerry Vliem, Lodgepole, SD was the buyer.

The high selling yearling Angus bull was Lot 129, AR Image Maker Y303, a March 1, 2011 son of HA Image Maker 0415 with EPDs of: BW .6, WW 57, YW 101 and Milk 32. Tom Jardee, Ekalaka, MT was the buyer at $4,500.
