SD Cattlemen encouraged to join in policy development

Pierre, SD – The 65th Annual South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association (SDCA) Convention and Tradeshow is set for Dec. 11-12, 2013, at the Ramkota Convention Center in Pierre. Members from across the state are invited to attend and take advantage of educational and networking opportunities and set SDCA’s policy priorities for 2014.

In addition to ongoing Farm Bill discussions, several important legislative issues will be addressed, including discussions on animal cruelty penalties, flooded private lands and ag land property taxes.

“The Annual Convention is a great opportunity for members to learn how their association is working for them. We discuss events and issues from the prior year and set our policy direction for the upcoming year,” said Jodie Anderson, SDCA Executive Director. “Every member’s vote counts at the annual meeting when we finalize policy resolutions and elect our leaders, so I encourage members to take advantage of this opportunity to set the direction for your association.”

SDCA members will consider policy resolutions during the committee meetings on Wednesday, December 11th. Then, on Thursday morning, December 12th, members will finalize SDCA’s policy direction for 2013 during the Annual Membership Meeting. Members will also elect association leaders at this meeting.

Don’t miss this opportunity to network with fellow cattlemen and weigh in on important policy discussions.
