SD FFA members to meet state legislators

South Dakota’s State Legislators will meet with District and State FFA Officers for the annual FFA Legislative Breakfast on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009 in Pierre. The State FFA Officers will conduct a breakfast program designed to explain the agriculture education instructional program and FFA’s expanding opportunities in premier leadership, personal growth and career success. District FFA Officers and advisors will have the opportunity to visit one-on-one with legislators, sharing how local agriculture education programs utilize math, science and reading skills as well as have internships for every student.
Following the breakfast the State FFA Officers and Student Ambassadors, who include:
Brian Gottlob, McCook Central FFA; Shad Christman, Lemmon FFA; Wyatt DeJong, Winner FFA; Shane Gross, Hitchcock-Tulare FFA; Josh Johnson, Harrisburg FFA; Maria Skoglund, McCook Central FFA; Thorwald Vostad, Sioux Valley FFA; and Ana Schweer, Watertown FFA will conduct a District Officer leadership training workshop. Training will focus on communication, serving as a role model, team building, conflict resolution, and their duties as a delegate at state convention.
The FFA Legislative breakfast is held at the King’s Inn under the sponsorship of the South Dakota FFA Foundation and the seven FFA Districts of South Dakota.
