SDCA members encouraged to make voices heard by participating in Policy Dev.

The 66th Annual South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association (SDCA) Convention and Tradeshow is set for December 3-4, 2014 at the Ramkota Conference Center in Aberdeen. Members from across the state are invited to attend and take advantage of educational and networking opportunities and set SDCA’s policy priorities for 2015.

“I encourage members to join us in Aberdeen and learn how your association is working on your behalf. We will discuss recent events and activities and set our policy direction for the upcoming year,” said Jodie Anderson, SDCA Executive Director. “Every member’s vote counts at the Annual Membership Meeting when we finalize policy resolutions and elect our leaders. Come make your voice heard!”

A number of state and national issues will be discussed during the two-day convention. Federal issues such as the Waters of the US proposed rule, a proposal for an additional beef checkoff, beef import proposals from Argentina and Brazil, and ongoing Farm Bill program implementation all impact cattlemen. Numerous legislative issues are also on the agenda, including road and bridge funding, flooded private lands, drainage and ag land property taxes.

SDCA members will consider policy resolutions on these and other issues during the committee meetings on Wednesday, December 3rd. On Thursday morning, December 4th, members will finalize SDCA’s policy direction for 2015 during the Annual Membership Meeting, where members will also elect association leaders.
