SDSU Horse Club to host youth petting zoo on Nov. 18 in Brookings

BROOKINGS, SD – The South Dakota State University Horse Club will host a youth petting zoo on Nov. 18 in Brookings, SD.

The petting zoo is open to all and will be held from 4:30-7 p.m. at the SDSU Equine Teaching Facility on Medary Avenue in Brookings. The only cost is a donation of canned food items for the Brookings Food Pantry.

South Dakota Cooperative Extension Equine Specialist Rebecca Bott said the petting zoo also includes horse rides.

“This open house is a great chance for kids to ride SDSU horses and become familiar with a variety of animals while getting to know our college students,” Bott said. “We welcome everyone to come out and enjoy some time outdoors in autumn, and to interact with our animals. Many of our younger foals are at the perfect age for kids to pet them and learn more about horses.”
