February 20, 2015
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., has become the 11th potential presidential candidate to accept an invitation to speak at the March 7 Iowa Agriculture Summit, the summit organizers said today.
Iowa entrepreneur, Republican donor and philanthropist Bruce Rastetter is the organizer of the event to be held at the Iowa fairgrounds.
"Prospective candidates will each on stage alone with Rastetter for 20 minutes to answer questions about the broad range of issues facing American farmers and agribusinesses, including modern agriculture practices, renewable fuels, biosciences, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), grain and livestock markets, land conservation, federal subsidies and other related topics," organizers said in the news release.
The Iowa Agriculture Summit is billed as the first event of its kind, and both Democrats and Republicans have been invited.
The 10 potential 2016 presidential candidates — all Republicans — who had already accepted invitations to participate in the event are: former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former New York Gov. George Pataki, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, New York businessman Donald Trump and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.
