Servicemen and women, veterans recognized at Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo®
Local military veterans were honored during the opening ceremony of the first PRCA rodeo of the BHSS, held on the afternoon of Saturday Jan. 26. The Black Hills Stock Show Rodeo® military performance was sponsored by the Wrangler National Patriot Program, a year-round program developed to help raise funds to support American military veterans and their families and to serve as inspiration for all Americans to rally around each other in patriotism. Wrangler donates a portion of the proceeds of Wrangler National Patriot shirts to charities providing support to military veterans and their families. Anyone with a military ID was given $3.00 off the purchase of their rodeo ticket to that performance.
Additionally, the Black Hills Stock Show Foundation recognized Soldiers from the South Dakota Army National Guard and Airmen from Ellsworth Air Force Base Tuesday, Jan. 29, for the tenth consecutive year during their Military Appreciation Day at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City.
The Stock Show Foundation hosted 24 members of the Air Force and South Dakota National Guard at a luncheon in appreciation of their service.
Members of the Stock Show Foundation and supporters listened as the soldiers and airmen introduced themselves and shared a few personal details such as their hometowns, job assignments, employment locale and site(s) of their deployment in support of overseas contingency operations.
The Stock Show Foundation is a non-profit organization established to manage scholarship and grant programs benefiting the communities, the region and the people who support Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo and the livestock industry.
