178 yearling and two-yr-old Angus bulls: $4,228
A huge crowd of cattlemen gathered at Philip Livestock for the Spear U Angus bull sale. Owners, Greg and Lori Shearer and their son Jace moved their sale to Philip Livestock, after having it out on their ranch for many years. There was a good mix of both yearling bulls and two-year-olds.
The herd has been bred for cattle with thickness, maternal characteristics, and excellent carcasses. They run their cow herd in the Cheyenne River breaks so they need cattle with soundness and longevity.
The bulls had also had the Zoetis HD 5OK tests with the results printed on each bull. The HD 50K scores for Angus includes genetic predictions in the form of percent ranks for 19 traits plus parentage verification.
Shearers offered many half and three quarter brothers on this sale, with most of the seats filled with repeat buyers. The sale was a very fast-paced affair and stayed steady all the way through.
