Members of the South Dakota SheepGrowers Association picked up tips and learned about market techniques this year at their 74th annual meeting, held Sept. 24 in Lead, SD.

The event highlighted a variety of speakers and educators discussing topics ranging from research and technology to field practices and market values. The association’s annual business meeting was also held in the afternoon.

Long-time convention member Tammy Basel said the annual meeting is an important event for producers and a great place to pick up tips to improve operations of all sizes.

“The people who show up make things happen,” Basel said. “When you want to know what’s hot and important to your industry, you’ve got to come where people are active and doing the products.”

Two topics discussed during the morning-long educational session were utilizing guard dogs in predator management and all-time record high lamb prices.
