Mike Willard, Colton, S.D., judged the Sioux Empire Farm Show Hereford Show Jan. 29 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Willard chose lot 30, Solsma Audi 193, a consignment from Blake Solsma, Sanborn, Iowa, as champion bull. He was sired by LaGrand Reload 80P ET and out of Solsma's Hattie 198. He sold to Don Christensen, Beresford, S.D., for $6,000.

Reserve champion bull went to lot 7, LCX 88X Zoey 14B ET, a consignment from Larry Crane, Mitchell, S.D. He was sired by NJW 98S R117 Ribeye 88X ET and out of WLL Zoey 3Z. He was the highest selling bull and sold for $8,750 to Jeff Gerlach, Stickney, S.D.

The second highest selling bull was lot 16, a consignment from Huwaldts Herefords, Randolph, Neb. He sold for $7,000 to Doug Nordhues, Randolph.

Willard chose lot 4, LCX Classic Zoey 1B ET, a consignment from Larry Crane, as champion female. She was sired by LCX Classic 105 ET and out of WLL Zoey 3Z. She was the highest selling female selling for $15,750 to James Simmermon, Lake Andes, S.D.

Willard chose lot 3, SM Mary 408, as reserve champion female. She was consigned by Muller Cattle, Davis, S.D. She was sired by LaGrand Reload 80P ET and out of Mary Jane 0251.

The second highest selling female was lot 2, a consignment from Circle S Ranch, Stewartville, Minn. She sold for $4,700 to Aaron Benck, Granada, Minn.

Chisum Peterson, Pukwana, S.D., served as auctioneer for the Hereford Sale. He auctioned 21 bulls and five females. Twenty-one bulls averaged $4,783.33, and the five females averaged $5,930.
