Miles DeJong, Kennebec, S.D., judged the Sioux Empire Farm Show Red Angus Show Jan. 29 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

DeJong chose lot 24, WEBR Apollo 440, a consignment from Weber Land & Cattle, Inc., Lake Benton, Minn., as champion bull. He was sired by HXC Conquest 440SP and out of ULRA Miss Berry. He sold to Oren Stahl, Freeman, S.D., for $5,750.

Reserve champion bull went to lot 27, ULRA Cocktail 1429, a consignment from Ulrich Red Angus, Good Thunder, Minn. He was sired by SLGN Yardmaster 125Y and out of ULRA Miss Berry. He sold for $6,000 to Bruce Handel, Menno, S.D.

The highest selling bull was lot 33, a consignment from Carruthers Brothers Ranch, Baltic, S.D. He sold for $7,000 to Stan Williamson, Garretson, S.D. The second highest selling bull was lot 31, a consignment from Gall Family Red Angus, Hurley, S.D. He sold to Mark Stoebner, Tripp, S.D., for $6,500.

DeJong chose lot 4, TSN Rose 6B, a consignment from TSN Lucky Red Angus, Montevideo, Minn., as champion female. She was sired by JLO Mulberry 919 and out of 3SCC Hi-RB-L5-U64. She was the highest selling female selling for $3,000 to Adam Palmquist, Winfred, S.D.

DeJong chose lot 8, MMR Miss Anticipation 1201, as reserve champion female. She was consigned by M&M Acres, Canby, Minn. She was sired by C-Bar Anticipation 101W and out of MMR Miss Pursue 1201. She sold for $2,800 to Dean Ackerman, Sibley, Iowa.

Seth Weishaar, Belle Fourche, S.D., served as auctioneer for the Red Angus Sale. He auctioned 26 bulls and seven females. Twenty-six bulls averaged $4,625, and the seven females averaged $2,514.29.
