Sioux Empire Farm Show Red Angus Show and Sale

Jim Krantz, Howard, S.D., judged the Sioux Empire Farm Show Red Angus Show Jan. 23 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Krantz chose lot 16, SHAG Western Style 3051, a consignment from Shaggy Meadows Red Angus, Marion, S.D., as champion bull. He was sired by PIE Way Out West and out of PIE Miss E 8161. He was the highest selling bull and sold for $5,000 to Curtis R. Matthies, Marion.

Reserve champion bull went to lot 29, GALL’S Big Red 318, a consignment from Gall Family Red Angus, Hurley, S.D. He was sired by Red RMJ Redman 1T and out of Gall’s Miss Kee 184. He was the second highest selling bull and sold for $4,250 to Bruce Handel, Menno, S.D.



Krantz chose lot 7, Namken Bonnita 17R 54A, a consignment from Namken Red Angus, Lake Norden, S.D., as champion female. She was sired by Red SSS Endorse 639X and out of Namken Bonnita 4N 17R. She was the highest selling female and sold for $3,100 to Mitchell Red Angus, Kadoka, S.D.

Krantz chose lot 6, SIXL MS Commitment 327, as reserve champion female. She was consigned by Lars Hanson, Groton, S.D. She was sired by R+R Y7 and out of SIX E Queen 95.



The second highest selling female was lot 8, a consignment from Thor and Steph Nelson, Montevideo, Minn. She sold to Gary Gertz, Jasper, Minn., for $2,400.

Seth Weishaar, Belle Fourche, S.D., served as auctioneer for the Red Angus Sale. He auctioned 24 bulls and five females. Twenty-four bulls averaged $2,937.50, and the five females averaged $2,100. F
