Dustin Smith, Storm Lake, Iowa, judged the Sioux Empire Farm Show Simmental Show Jan. 22 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Bulls

Smith chose lot 33X, JASS New Direction 58A, a consignment from Jass Simmentals, Garner, Iowa, as champion bull. He was the second highest selling bull and sold for $5,500 to Joe Bosworth, White Lake, S.D.

Reserve champion bull went to lot 24, LEFSPOWERUP1335A, a consignment from Lehrman Family Simmentals, Spencer, S.D. He was sired by ES Power Up XS37 and out of Miss Werning 935W. He sold for $5,000 to Adam Palmquist, Winfred, S.D.

The highest selling bull was lot 37, a consignment from Keene Cattle Company, Hartley, Iowa. He sold to Jerry Hettinger, White Lake, for $5,750.

Smith chose lot 10, SCP Extraordinary A12, a consignment from Keene Cattle Company, Hartley, Iowa, as champion female. She was sired by SS Ebonys Grandmaster and out of Sterlings Extraordinary. She was the second highest selling female selling for $3,000 to Lonnie Hoien, Armstrong, Iowa.

Smith chose lot 14, Frankes Black Dream, as reserve champion female. She was consigned by Franke Show Calves, Dover, Minn. She was sired by U112 and out of Frankes Dream of Me. She sold for $2,700 to Kyle Eisenhauer, Wausa, Neb.

The second highest selling female was lot 15, a consignment from Star Born Simmentals, Fairmont, Minn. She sold to Kevin Van Beek, Hudson, S.D., for $4,100.

Tracy Harl, Hastings, Neb., served as auctioneer for the Simmental Sale. He auctioned 23 bulls and 12 females. Twenty-three bulls averaged $3,239.13, and the 12 females averaged $2,275.
