Smith Angus Ranch 22nd Annual Bull Sale
Smith Angus Ranch is owned and operated by Kent, Faye and Cameron Smith; and Trevor, Amber and Aubrey Smith from Bassett, NE. They held their 22nd annual bull sale at the ranch, located 25 miles southeast of Bassett, NE.
Smith Angus has built a solid foundation with an exceptional bunch of mother cows. Kent takes great pride in his mother cows; if they don’t perform in his environment, they are sold. This is why there is a nice even set of bulls that are heavily muscled, deep ribbed with great structure. Despite another cold, wet day, many repeat buyers along with new buyers made their way to the ranch. Auctioneer Tracy Harl started the sale with Lot 85, which made for a very active bidding crowd, as well as DV Auction.
Topping the sale was Lot 9, Smith Answer 51A, a 3/8/2010 SAV Final Answer son, sold to Gene Schlueter from Wood Lake, NE, for $6,000. His EPDs were CED 12, BW -1.3, WW 52, Milk 19 and YW 90.
Lot 88, Smith Answer 119, an 8/11/2009 SAV Final Answer son, sold to Bruce Heyden from Newport, NE, for $6,000. He had EPDs of CED 7, BW 1.6, WW 61, Milk 19 and YW 102.
Lot 85, Smith Answer LM 29, an 8/7/2009 SAV Final Answer son, sold to John Anderson from Plainview, NE, for $5,750. His EPDs were CED 9, BW 1.1, WW 60, Milk 21 and YW 107.
Lot 93, Smith Answer 239, an 8/15/2009 SAV Final Answer Son, also sold to John Anderson for $5,750. He had EPDs of CED 9, BW 0.4, WW 63, Milk 15 and YW 105.
Lot 99, Smith Answer 539, an 8/21/2009 SAV Final Answer son, sold to Robert Randall from Atkinson, NE, for $5,250. His EPDs were CED 11, BW -0.4, WW 53, Milk 20 and YW 94.
Lot 27, Smith Standard 91A, a 3/13/2010 LCC New Standard son, sold to Marty Buoy from Holyoke, CO, for $5,000. He had EPDs of CED 6, BW 1.6, WW 56, Milk 24 and YW 103.
Doughboy Land & Cattle from Cody, NE, were volume buyers, purchasing five Smith Angus bulls.
