South Dakota: 2011 Lamb Bonanza game set for Jan. 8 at Frost Arena

BROOKINGS, SD – The 19th annual South Dakota State University (SDSU) Lamb Bonanza starts at 4 p.m. on Jan. 8 at Frost Arena on the campus of SDSU.

Organizers created the event to showcase SDSU’s support of lamb and wool production in South Dakota, held in conjunction with SDSU men’s and women’s basketball.

The South Dakota Sheep Growers’ Association will serve leg-of-lamb sandwiches and lamb spread from 4-5 p.m. on the north side of the track at the arena.

SDSU faces Oral Roberts, with the women’s game starting at 5 p.m. The men’s game begins at 7:30 p.m.

During halftime of the men’s game, six lamb pelts will be auctioned. Four pelts are decorated with the SDSU logo and two feature the SDSU Jackrabbit logo. Proceeds from the sales will provide scholarships to undergraduates in the SDSU Department of Animal and Range Sciences and the SDSU Athletic Department.

The SDSU Department of Athletics and the SDSU Department of Animal and Range Sciences, along with the South Dakota Sheep Growers’ Association, are sponsoring the 2011 Lamb Bonanza.
