South Dakota: 4-H Leaders’ Conference set for March 26 in Rapid City

BROOKINGS, SD – The South Dakota 4-H Leaders’ Conference will be held March 26 in Rapid City.

The event takes place at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSM&T) campus, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Conference activities include the South Dakota 4-H State Leaders’ meeting, three workshop opportunities, roundtable discussions, and a presentation by keynote speaker Sidney G. Goss, professor of sociology at SDSM&T.

The conference costs $10 for participants who register on or before March 10. Late registration is $15. The fee covers a meal and materials. To register, make checks payable to the Pennington County 4-H Revolving Account and mail your contact information and payment to the Pennington County Extension office, 601 E. Centre Street, Rapid City, SD 57701-3050.



An “In Between” (INB) workshop for 11-14-year-old 4-Hers will be held in conjunction with the 4-H Leaders’ Conference. The “INB” workshop includes pertinent topics for youth such as leadership, recreation ideas and project workshops. The cost for the “INB” conference is $20. Youth interested in attending should call their local Extension office for a registration form or ask their 4-H leaders for information.

South Dakota 4-H leaders from Bennett, Custer, Fall River, Haakon, Jackson, Pennington and Shannon counties will host the conference. Leaders, parents, teachers, educators, junior leaders and middle-school-aged 4-H members are encouraged to attend. Special-rate accommodations have been set for attendees at the Rapid City Comfort Inn on Interstate 90 and at the Motel 6.
