South Dakota: All-Girl Extravaganza ‘Showdeo’ June 18 in Deadwood

DEADWOOD, SD – The Days of ’76 Museum will host an All-Cowgirl “Showdeo,” a day of horsewomanship, companionship and fun, Saturday, June 18, 2011, from 8:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the rodeo arena in Deadwood.

Horse-and-rider are offered a full day of fun and learning, including riding clinics with Cliff and Chris Crago of Belle Fourche, SD; sessions with renown Horse Intuitive Therapist (Horse Psychic) Tracy Sharpe from British Columbia; driving and other workshops. Cowgirls without horses are invited to audit the riding and psychic clinics and participate in workshops at a reduced fee.

All are invited to compete for fabulous prizes in competitive games in the arena in the afternoon. All cowgirls at heart, and those who love cowgirls, are invited to watch the fun and cheer their favorite cowgirls from the grandstands.

An historic “Cowgirls of the West” style show from 5-5:30 p.m. will honor and highlight the history of cowgirls and their unique style of dressing from the 1800s to the present style of bling, followed by a Cowgirl Cocktail Party.

Registration opens at 7 a.m. 94 Ranch Chuck Wagon – cowgirl-owned and -operated – will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and the Cowgirl Saloon opens at 10 am. Vendors selling everything from practical horse equipment to Cowgirl Bling will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Admission for the day for horse-and-rider, which includes: including both clinics; all workshops and games; two meals; two drink tickets; a gift bag and complimentary T-shirt, is $269 if booked on or before June 3; $299 after June 3. Admission for the day for auditors (without horses), which includes watching both clinics; participating in all workshops and games; one meal; one drink ticket; and complimentary T-shirt) is $99. General admission is $5 at the door.
