South Dakota Beef Industry Council 2012 quarterly meeting is June 28
PIERRE – Directors of the South Dakota Beef Industry Council (SDBIC) will hold their quarterly meeting on Thursday, June 28, at the Casey Tibbs Rodeo Center in Ft. Pierre.
During the meeting, which begins at 1 p.m., directors will receive final results of the Producer Input Survey, as well as reports from the Cattlemen’s Beef Board, the Operating Committee, and SDBIC directors who participated in the recent New York Beef Farm Tours and an event for influential executive chefs at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in California.
Prior to the afternoon meeting, SDBIC directors will participate in a BBQ Bootcamp, a program put on by South Dakota State University (SDSU) Extension Meat Specialist Keith Underwood and designed to educate consumers about meat cookery, barbecue and smoking, food safety and handling, meat selection and nutrition. SDBIC allocates checkoff funds to help sponsor the BBQ Bootcamps across South Dakota.
“We thought this would be an excellent opportunity for our directors to see first-hand how checkoff dollars are being used to reach South Dakota consumers through this great program,” said SDBIC Executive Director Ron Frederick.
Beef producers are invited to attend the 1 p.m. SDBIC quarterly business meeting. While the morning BBQ Bootcamp on June 28 is limited to SDBIC directors, SDSU will be holding additional BBQ Bootcamps at the South Dakota Ag Xchange held at the Oahe Speedway north of Pierre on June 28 at 3 p.m. and June 29 at 2 p.m. For more information or to reserve your spot at one of the Bootcamp events contact Keith Underwood at 605-688-5439 or Keith.Underwood@sdstate.edu.
