South Dakota: Beef Industry Council meets March 22 in Fort Pierre
The South Dakota Beef Industry Council (SDBIC) will hold its next regular meeting on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the Casey Tibbs Rodeo Center in Fort Pierre, SD beginning at 10:30 a.m. (CST). The SDBIC administers the $1-per-head Beef Checkoff on all beef cattle sales in the state.
The agenda for the March meeting includes an update on Beef Checkoff financials and a report from SDBIC Director of Nutrition Holly Swee on active education and promotion programs. SDBIC Executive Director Ron Frederick, who began his duties in February, will be introduced to the entire SDBIC board and will answer any questions from the floor.
In the research arena, SDBIC directors will review a final report on the checkoff-funded research at South Dakota State University investigating carcass quality.
A committee report will be given on promotion requests and SDBIC directors will vote on possible funding.
