South Dakota FFA members to take in Summer Leadership Training
June 23, 2009
The South Dakota FFA Association will conduct its annual Leadership Retreats July 1-3 at Camp NeSoDak, Waubay, and July 8-11 and 12-15 at Camp Bob Marshall, Custer. Nearly 250 retreaters are expected to attend from over 45 chapters.
The retreats will feature a “board game” theme, challenging students to experience the “Game of Life.” FFA members will develop and enhance their leadership skills and self confidence through interactive learning. The program includes workshops covering leadership responsibilities, healthy lifestyles, serving as role models, accepting responsibility, conflict resolution, service learning, exploration of opportunities available in the FFA, and creating a chapter Program of Activities that utilizes these newfound skills and ideas to benefit local chapters and communities.
The retreats will be directed by the 2009-2010 State FFA Officers: President, Brady Duxbury, Wessington; Vice President, Caitlin Johnson, Hetland; Secretary, Jacob Englin, Bruce; Treasurer, Rebecca Naasz, Platte; Reporter, Chelsey Abler, Hoven; and Sentinel, Trent Thompson, Sioux Falls. Retreat staff also included Kari Rogers, Agar; and Kaitlin Jacobi, Ludlow; SD FFA Ambassadors.
