South Dakota: Ft. Pierre High School Rodeo regional moved to Highmore June 10-12
In a decision made Wednesday night, the South Dakota High School Association (SDHSRA) River Region host committee decided to move the Ft. Pierre rodeo scheduled for June 10-12 to Highmore, SD, due to flooding concerns.
According to Sara Grim, River Region rodeo secretary, the cutting will still be held at Jerry Ward’s North Ridge Ranch arena on Friday, June 10, as originally planned. But the rest of the SDHSRA regional performances will relocate some 50 miles east of Ft. Pierre to Highmore. In addition, health certificates will be required for the Highmore event.
In a phone conversation Thursday night, Grim said that not all SDHSRA River Region contestants knew of the location change. She hoped that after the first weekend of competition in Winner June 3-5, all contestants participating in the event will know about the location change.
