RAPID CITY, SD – Sponsored annually by the South Dakota Reined Cow Horse Association, the Breeders and Open Snaffle Bit Futurity and Derby was once again a major event in the upper Midwest. Held here on Aug. 31 through Sept. 2, the show was presented on the Central States Fairgrounds at the Pennington County Event Center.

The contestants competed in herd work on Friday, reining on Saturday and the fence work concluded the event on Sunday. Judges for the 2007 SDRCHA Futurity/Derby were Marilyn Peters of Edmond, OK and Billy Cochrane from Clovis, CA. Officers of the SDRCHA include President Wilber Newland of Belle Fourche, SD; Vice-President Avery May of Kyle, SD; Secretary Brenda Flottmeyer of Piedmont, SD; and Treasurer Clara Wilson from Newcastle, WY. Board members instrumental in the success of the organization are Chuck Crago of Belle Fourche, SD; Justin Lawrence of Alzada, MT; Randall Christensen of Sturgis, SD; Mike Nehl of Belle Fourche, SD; and Warren West from New Underwood, SD.
