South Dakota State Rodeo Gala set for November 19 in Fort Pierre
BROOKINGS, SD – The inaugural South Dakota State Rodeo Gala is set for Nov. 19 in Fort Pierre.
The event will take place from 6-10:30 p.m. at the Casey Tibbs South Dakota Rodeo Center, 210 Verendrye Dr., Fort Pierre. Two hundred seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cost $25. The fee covers a catered supper and activities, and a rodeo dance will serve as the evening’s conclusion.
To purchase tickets, call Jana Pederson at 605-688-4799, or e-mail her at this address: Jana.Pederson@sdstate.edu.
During the program, officials will honor SDSU Rodeo alumni Jim and Julie Sutton for the many years of support they have provided the program. Barry Dunn, dean of SDSU’s College of Agriculture and Biological Sciences, said the gala is a great way to support one of the hardest working athletic clubs at SDSU.
“We invite everyone to come and help us celebrate last year’s national reserve champion finish by the SDSU Rodeo women’s team, and to prepare for the season to come,” Dunn said. “The gala also gives us a great opportunity to thank the many people who have supported SDSU Rodeo over the years, and for our donors to meet the team representing SDSU in the arena this season.”
The gala includes both live and silent auctions of rodeo and western items. Proceeds from the auctions will go to support the SDSU Rodeo program’s team travel and practice expenses. Many members of the 2010-2011 SDSU Rodeo team also will attend the gala, and scrapbooks that document more than 30 years of SDSU Rodeo will be on display.
To join those who support SDSU Rodeo as a donor, call SDSU head rodeo coach Ron Skovly at 605-690-1359, or e-mail him at this address: Ronald.Skovly@sdstate.edu. Or e-mail Dean Barry Dunn at this address: Barry.Dunn@sdstate.edu.
