South Dakota: Tri-County Rancher’s Workshop set for Jan. 11 in Presho
BROOKINGS, SD – A collection of agencies have organized a rancher’s workshop set for Jan. 11 in Presho, SD.
The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Conservation Districts, and the Extension offices of Tripp, Gregory, and Lyman counties have organized the event.
The workshop will feature South Dakota Corn Utilization Council Endowed Dean Barry Dunn of South Dakota State University’s College of Agriculture and Biological Science. Dunn will serve as emcee and share a presentation on the challenges and opportunities of South Dakota agriculture in the 21st century.
The workshop also will feature a free noon meal, courtesy of local Conservation Districts and area agribusinesses.
The workshop begins with registration at 9:30 a.m. at Hutch’s Cafe in Presho. The program begins at 10 a.m. and includes a number of speakers and presentations including Bryce Baker of the South Dakota Department of Agriculture. He will share a discussion called “Age- and Source-Verification: Does it Pay?”
Extension Beef Specialist Cody Wright will present information on pasture weaning and on autumn grazing of planted crops and crop residues. Tate Lantz, a rangeland management specialist with the NRCS, will explain how “mob” grazing differs from other types of grazing.
