TK Angus, Tim and Kim Marlatt and family hosted their 26th Annual Bull sale at the ranch just outside of Valentine, Neb., March 23, 2014. This was a day of several firsts for the TK outfit, the first sale at their beautiful new ranch just a few miles out of Valentine, Neb.,, their first Sunday sale and the first time they sold the bulls on video screens rather than running them thru the ring.

The bulls however, were the same thick stout bulls that TK Angus has gained a reputation for breeding. They were displayed in large pens so buyers could get the opportunity to see the soundness and be able to see them travel in their natural environment.

Top selling bull of the day was Lot 82 – a fall long yearling son of Paramount out of a TK Grand Canyon dam. Half interest sold for $16,000 to Nick and Gina Risse of South Dakota. Co-top selling bull at $16,000 was Lot 119, a fall long yearling son of Platinum. This light birth weight bull had a negative birth weight EPD and yearling growth EPD of 110. Half interest in this bull sold to LBS Angus of North Dakota.

LBS Angus also purchased a half interest in Lot 13 for $15,000. He was a heavy-middled, soggy-made son of Prosperity. Nick and Gina Risse purchased Lot 93, a son of Contractor, for $12,500. This light birth weight bull was previously used as a herd sire at TK Angus. His sire, Contractor, has since been leased to Alta Genetics.

Bob and Gail Stoddard of Wyoming made the first of several purchases when they bought Lot 99 for $12,000. This bull was also a son of Contractor.

Several excellent purchases were made by the buyers on the seats. Cattle sold to ten different states. TK Angus still has fall long yearling and yearling Angus bulls and Black Charolais bulls for sale.

One thing that hasn’t changed at TK Angus is the excellent lunch and hospitality. This is one of the best lunches of the spring sale run.
