State champs to be determined at the Central States Fair

RAPID CITY, SD – Bragging rights and state titles will be on the line at the Central States Fair for two fair events. The Mutton Bustin’ and the Paper, Rock, Scissor competitions will both allow fairgoers a chance to win multiple prizes during the week of the fair.

The SD State Championship Paper, Rock, Scissors competition will take place in the Bud Light Area located at the McDonald’s Free Stage. The competition is open to all fairgoers who want to test their skills in the game of chance. Qualifying rounds will be held Monday, Aug. 24 thru Friday, Aug. 28th. The State Champions will be crowned on Saturday, Aug. 29th.

Children (ages 4-8) will also be able to qualify for the SD State Championship Mutton Bustin’ on Monday thru Friday. Two performances are scheduled daily at 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The SD State Champion will be decided on Friday night at the Range Days Rodeo. RCC Western Store will present performance winners with a belt buckle.

Mutton Busters can pick up an entry form at RCC Western Stores in Rapid City. Paper, Rock, Scissors participants can apply at the fairgrounds prior to the event. The Paper Rock Scissors youth division (ages 20 and under) will participate at 3 p.m. and adult division (ages 21 and over) will face-off at 7 p.m.
