Stomprud Angus 6th Annual Production Sale

Scott Dirk
Auctioneer Seth Weishaar and Sale Host Larry Stomprud.

Larry and Eileen Stomprud hosted their 6th Annual bull sale at the Faith Livestock Commission Co. in Faith, SD on April 26, 2010.

Stomprud Angus is a smaller, no-frills operation located in the native hard grass, gumbo country of western South Dakota, near Mud Butte. These bulls are not pampered and fed hard for huge feed gains. They need to perform in pasture conditions on mother’s milk alone with no creep feed and are fed minimal grain over the winter to ensure plenty of longevity with good feet and legs.

This year Larry moved this sale back to April from his usual February day to give the bulls a few more months to grow out and show more natural thickness and volume. This sure seemed to pay off as the bulls were in good working condition, ready to go out and service plenty of cows or heifers and not fall apart in the breeding pasture.

TY and Kari Dieters of Turtle Creek Angus Ranch, Faith, SD, another small, up and coming outfit, were guest consignors with a handful of yearling bulls on the sale.

The top selling bull was Lot 6, a 4/1/09 bull sired by TC Total 410 with EPDs of BW 2.2, WW 50, YW 94 and Milk 23 that sold to Buck Ward of Timber Lake, SD for $3,000.
