"Team up to Safety" quiz bowl competition finals at DakotaFest
HURON, SD – South Dakota Farmers Union (SDFU) will host the first annual “Team up to Safety Quiz Bowl” competition finals Aug. 17, 2010, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the South Dakota State University (SDSU) Forum Pavilion during the annual DakotaFest farm show at Mitchell, SD.
The quiz bowl will featured four South Dakota FFA chapters competing against each other to answer questions related to health and safety on the farm. The competition will feature teams from Hoven, Wessington/Wolsey, McCook Central, and Bowdle. The participating FFA chapters have four team members plus an alternate.
“Farm safety is so important, and we want our next generation of farmers and ranchers to have a solid knowledge base to keep them safe,” said SDFU Rural Development Director Mitch Fargen. “This quiz bowl will inform not only the participants, but those in the audience might learn a few things that will keep them safe on the farm.”
The semi-finals were held on the SDSU campus this past April during the FFA State Convention. The four teams entering the finals won their semi-final rounds, and had the four highest overall scoring totals.
