“Telling Your Ag Story” Photography Contest
Do you have a photo that tells your ag story? Enter it in the second annual South Dakota Farm Bureau (SDFB) Young Farmer and Rancher Committee “Telling your ag story” photo contest for chance at hundreds in prize money and seeing your image published in Tri-State Livestock News’s Ag Pride edition!
Three age categories:
Youth: Under 18
YF&R Age: 18-35
Member Age: Over 35
Contest is open to any South Dakota resident. You do not have to be a Farm Bureau member to enter. Up to three entries are allowed per person. Photos must be your own work, not previously entered in last year’s contest, and should be a photographic description of your ag story. Images must be saved as high resolution jpegs. Please name each image, and provide a short corresponding description/photo caption explaining the story being told in the image. Your name, age, phone number and address must also be included in your submission. Failure to include this information may result in your entry be disqualified.
Images are to be submitted via email at email@example.com, starting March 15. Deadline for entries is Noon, Central Standard Time on April 1.
Photos will be uploaded to the SDFB YF&R Facebook page for voting to narrow each age division to the top 10 finalists based on number of image “likes.” Online voting will start April 2, and conclude at Noon, Central Standard Time on April 15. Contest hosts reserve the right to add up to two additional photos from each age category to the finalists. A panel of three judges will then select a winner in each age category, as well as an overall Grand Champion photo. Each age division winner will be awarded $75, and the Grand Champion winner will receive $175. Winners will be contacted via email and/or phone and announced on the SDFB YF&R Facebook page.
The winning images will be published in the 2016 Tri-State Livestock News Ag Pride Edition. Non-winning photographs may also be showcased in the 2016 Tri-State Livestock News Ag Pride Edition. Winners will receive recognition at the 2016 SDFB Annual Meeting, where their images will be on display.
By submitting a photograph you agree that SDFB and Tri-State Livestock News have permission to use photos at will online and in print without any additional compensation. SDFB also reserves the right to print and market a single copy of the four winning photographs in their annual winter convention live auction, with full credit given to the photographer. They may also choose to donate the image back to the photographer.
Please email YF&R Committee members and contest hosts Bekah Ihnen or Heather Maude at firstname.lastname@example.org with additional questions. We can’t wait to see how you tell your ag story in a single photograph!
