Terrill S. ‘Terry’ Snyder

Terrill S. “Terry” Snyder, 78, of Norwood, CO, took the Lord’s hand when he called on Tuesday evening, May 8, 2012 at the Montrose Memorial Hospital.

Terry was born March 8, 1934 to Neal Elsworth and Lorna Ruth (Swain) Snyder in Bedrock, CO. As a young toddler, his family moved to Norwood, where he spent his childhood and graduated from Norwood High School. Terry went on to Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO.

Terry served his country in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge, he married Jo Anne Hills on Feb. 16, 1958 at the Norwood Methodist Church and celebrated 54 years of marriage. He was a farmer and rancher and loved the outdoors. Terry was a member of the Colorado Farm Bureau and Colorado Woolgrowers Association. For years he raised sheep and cattle. A good time spent was snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and playing cards. Terry loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great granddaughters. They were very special to him. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by them all.

Surviving family members include his beloved wife, Jo Anne of Norwood, CO; sons, Steve (Jodie) Snyder of Norwood, CO, Todd (Joyce) Snyder of Redvale, CO; daughters, Terri (Ray) Moureaux and Jackie Thompson all of Norwood, CO; brother, Raymond (Phyllis) Snyder of Norwood, CO; sisters, Anne Shaffer of Norwood, CO, Violet Snyder of Fruita, CO, Francie (Don) Yeager of Powderhorn, CO; 13 grandchildren: Rachel and Nate Lamers; Sarah Shepardson; Amie, Shelley, Landon, Brenden and Chase (Lisha) Snyder; Tera (Brandon) Alexander; Tyrell and Talon Thompson; Natalie Moureaux; and great-granddaughters Kieley and Sage Shepardson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Norwood Fire Department and Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 411, Norwood, CO, or the Norwood Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 434, Norwood, CO 81423.

A visitation for family and friends was held Saturday, May 12 at the Norwood Christian Church followed by a Funeral Service. Interment with Military Honors took place at the Norwood Cemetery in Norwood, CO. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.

North Dakota farmer detained in Ukraine


A North Dakota farmer with business dealings in Ukraine now finds himself in custody there, accused by authorities in that country of plotting an assassination attempt against Ukraine’s agriculture minister, DTN/The Progressive Farmer has reported.
