The American Lamb Jam Tour goes global
The American Lamb Board kicked off their 2015 Lamb Jam Global Flavors Tour on November 2 in Seattle, Washington. This year chefs from each city are competing for top honors in four global flavors categories: Mediterranean, Asian, Latin and Middle Eastern. Congratulations to Chef Brett Teegardin of Seattle’s Purple Café and Wine Bar for winning the People’s Choice Award as well as Best in Show for his Asian-inspired Vietnamese-Style Sticky Lamb Belly with Pickled Vegetables and Scallion Pancakes.
Seattle also kicked off a new tour component-a “curriculamb” educational seminar that teaches consumers all about American Lamb, including cuts, cooking, wine pairings and how lamb is raised. The seminar is led by local shepherds, chefs, butchers and sommeliers, and consumers get to take home a pound of ground lamb.
The next stop on the tour will be the ALB’s newest market, Austin, Texas, on Feb 23 followed by Boston (April 12), Washington, DC (May 17), San Francisco (July 26) and New York City (Fall 2015).
