The Heather Presser Memorial Scholarship to help Red Angus juniors

Heather Presser

Family’s Generosity Establishes New Red Angus Youth Scholarships

Troy and Annette Presser, Presser Red Angus, Turtle Lake, N.D., have founded scholarships for youth to participate in national Junior Red Angus Association (JRA) leadership events in loving memory of their daughter, Heather. Heather was taken from her family in an ATV accident in 2012.

To honor Heather and her love for all things ranching, and to assist JRA members’ participation in leadership events throughout the year, the Pressers have established the Heather Presser Memorial Scholarships.

Their generosity will fund selected JRA members with registration expenses as well as travel allowance for the major JRA leadership events – Loaded 4 Leadership, Red Angus Young Stockman Program and Round-Up. Scholarship application is open to any JRA member.

Scholarship applications will be available along with registration forms for each of the events. JRA members may complete the application and must submit the completed application with the respective registration form.

Available scholarships:

Loaded 4 Leadership – $500 (presented every other year, beginning in 2016)

Red Angus Young Stockman Program – $500 (presented every other year, beginning in 2015)

Round-Up – $500 (presented annually)

The first Heather Presser Memorial Scholarship will be awarded for the 2015 Young Stockman program in Denver, Colo. Applications are available online at redangus.org/jra/programs with a Nov. 1 deadline.

Funding for the Heather Presser Memorial Scholarships grew from generous contributions from friends and fellow Red Angus breeders. Additional donations in Heather’s memory are welcome and will be managed through the Red Angus Foundation, Inc.
