The Outside Circle: John Wilson, Dually update, AQHA Champ, Etbauers and something fishy

The horse world is much poorer as I write this, for John Wilson, veterinarian from Sheridan, WY, has passed away. John, 68, died April 29, of a stroke during a medical procedure at the VA Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT. There is an obituary telling all about John’s life , so I won’t cover all that. What I do want to say, though, is that it was a privilege to know John, and that I respected his opinion on horse lameness issues more than anyone I have ever known. He just had an intuition that was nearly spooky. He could tell you more about what was wrong with a horse as it walked toward him at 80 paces than many veterinarians can after three days of X-rays, tests and bloodwork. That’s not saying other vets are unskilled, only that he simply had something extra.
