Trade office releases negotiating objectives
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative on Tuesday released a detailed summary of the Trans Pacific Partnership negotiating objectives. The list includes a special section on addressing sanitary and phytosanitary measures that are used as barriers to trade.
Senate Finance Committee ranking member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., praised the release and noted that noted that the sanitary and phytosanitary measures include tough customs provisions and provisions on rules of origin to help combat illegal transshipments from third countries, including those of seafood.
