Trask & Peterson’s 24th Annual Angus Bull Sale

Dan Piroutek

Todd Trask and Randy Peterson combined their cattle for another great sale at Philip Livestock Auction. They had a good crowd of very aggressive bidders on a nice, sunny day in western South Dakota.

This sale specializes in low birth weight bulls that have performance and carcass qualities. One of the main goals of their breeding program is to produce better females that can survive on South Dakota’s prairie. They produce cattle that are efficient on grass. Most of the bulls sold to repeat buyers, which tells a lot about their breeding program.

These cattle are packed full of genetics that go back to TC Rancher, 6I6, Larks Canyon, GAR New Design 5050, and the feature sire, Connealy 044 062, who is the bull with the number-one weaning weight EPD in the Angus breed, as well as the number-three yearling weight EPD. His EPD numbers include: CED 8, BW 1.6, WW 82, YW 133 and SC 1.60.
