USDA: Australia- Japan trade pact likely to undercut U.S. beef
In a study that is likely to bolster the case for approval of the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement, the Agriculture Department’s Economic Research Service said today that the Australia-Japan free trade agreement will make it cheaper for the Japanese to import Australian beef undercutting imports from the United States.
But the report also notes the TPP agreement contains bigger tariff reductions than the Australians got from Japan.
