Van Newkirk Herefords 2012 Production Sale

Joe, Cyndi, Kolby and Sara Van Newkirk welcomed an overflowing crowd on a brisk sunny day.
Cattlemen appreciated the quality of the bulls from top to bottom. The thick, easy-fleshing, heavily-muscled bulls sold into 12 states. Buyers were on hand from Canada to Texas.
High-selling bull was a thick, heavy muscled Harley son with a 2.7 BW EPD going to Struempler of Nebraska for $14,500. Knott of Colorado snapped up a deep-bodied thick Recap son with a 0.69 REA EPD for $11,750.
Edwards of Iowa paid $10,500 for another thick, heavy muscled Recap son with a 0.56 REA EPD. Fick, of Missouri, took home a heavy-boned, long-backed Valor son paying $10,000. Knott purchased a second Recap son with a 0.66 REA EPD for $10,000. Hermann of South Dakota also paid $10,000 for a long, thick Harley bull calf. Volume bull buyers were Nottingham of Colorado and Temple of South Dakota.
A thick-made 5170 heifer calf topped the sale for $2,400 to Larsen of South Dakota.
