Vilsack expects thousands at livestock competition workshop

The Aug. 27 public workshop in Fort Collins, CO, on livestock industry competition issues – in light of USDA’s proposed rule on the subject – should be crowded, according to USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack. During a Tuesday forum at the Iowa State Fair, he said, “We expect thousands of people at this meeting.” News reports say groups on both sides of the debate are encouraging their members to attend the workshop and make their cases on the pros or cons of the rule.

The workshop, will be held in the main ballroom of the Lory Student Center, 1101 Centre Avenue Mall, on the campus of Colorado State University. It will run from 8:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Advance registration is requested, and can be handled at http://www.conferences.colostate.edu/LiveStockWorkshop.
