Weed and Range seminars scheduled in Mont.

Lewistown, Montana – This year the Third Annual Weed & Range seminar is coming to both Lewistown and Glendive, Mont. The seminar in Lewistown will be held Jan. 23, 2014, at the Eagles Club with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. and speakers beginning at 9 a.m. The seminar in Glendive will be held on Feb. 4, 2014, at the EPEC Center. Registration for both seminars will be at the door with no prior registration necessary. Registration is $25 and that includes the seminar, lunch and applicator points. Applicator points include private, commercial, aquatic, dealer as well as various others. The seminar will include presentations by local Crop Production Services agents, MSU Central Ag Research Center Superintendent Dave Wichman and researchers from Fort Keogh, to mention a few. Topics will include an update on sage grouse, revegitation after Russian olive control, weed control in our forests, alfalfa restoration, conservative feeding and supplementation for heifer development as well as chemical updates. This year there will also be a panel discussing a wide range of topics moderated in Lewistown by Darren Crawford, Fergus Country Extension Agent and in Glendive by Bruce Smith, Dawson County Extension Agent. The seminar will conclude around 4:30 p.m. with the sign-up for points immediately after.
