Daniel Weidenbach of Highmore, SD was recently elected to serve a two-year term on the Junior Red Angus Association of America (JRA) Board of Directors during the 2009 JRA Round-Up held in South Dakota. He will serve as the Leadership Director and represents the North Plains Region.
Weidenbach is a senior at Highmore High School where he is involved with sports and livestock judging. In his position as Leadership Director, he will plan and conduct leadership activities at all junior events for the national organization.
“Daniel brings a combination of Red Angus, youth organization and beef cattle knowledge to our officer team,” said Dawn Bernhard, Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) junior programs coordinator. “His leadership experience will well serve the JRA.”
In his first official capacity on the JRA Board, Weidenbach will attend the National Red Angus Convention, Sept. 16-19 in Mahnomen, MN. During Convention, the Board conducts fund-raising activities and the Junior Activities meeting, and attends workshops. Weidenbach will help prepare a PowerPoint presentation on the JRA year-in-review.
The JRA Board will also devote time to plan and schedule the 2010 Round-Up, an educational, leadership event for JRA members that highlights the cattle industry and Red Angus stops. In addition, they will confirm plans for the 2009-2010 National Red Angus Junior Show.
The next official event for the JRA Board will be the Junior National Red Angus Show, held Nov. 16 in Louisville, KY. The JRA Board will assist with the check-in and processing of both open and junior show cattle, conduct activities with all junior exhibitors and will participate in the National Show by working the ring, assisting with line-up and making awards presentations.
