WHO clarifies advisory on processed, red meats
The World Health Organization said today that a report linking processed meat and colorectal cancer resulted in a recommendation that people reduce consumption of processed meat rather than stop eating it.
“The latest IARC [International Agency for Research on Cancer] review does not ask people to stop eating processed meats but indicates that reducing consumption of these products can reduce the risk of colorectal cancer,” the WHO said in a news release.
