Winners of “Montana Ag in Color” drawing contest announced
The Montana Farm Bureau Federation has announced the winners of the Montana Youth Agriculture Literacy program drawing contest. “Montana Ag in Color” was developed in recognition of National Ag Week, March 17-23, as a creative competition for elementary school children. Each grade was given a different agricultural theme ranging from farm animals to noxious weeds to ag-related careers. One winner was selected from each grade with one over-all winner chosen from the drawings.
Kindergarten – Dawson Keller, Richey Elementary
Second Grade – Lily Schallenberger, Ekalaka Elementary
Third Grade – Samantha Kosse, Choteau Elementary
Fourth Grade – Jake Brown, Saco School
Fifth Grade – Gracy Sieler, Greenfield School
Sixth Grade – Ana Kanagy, Sy School
Overall Winner – Sixth Grade – Kamree Pearson, Greenfield School
“It was fun to be on the selection committee for the Montana Ag in Color contest, which welcomed kindergarten and elementary school students,” said MFB Women’s Leadership Committee’s Carla Lawrence. “It was a difficult task to select winners with all the talented artists who entered the contest. We hope the students who participated in this contest increased their knowledge about agriculture.”
The winners will be guests of Montana Farm Bureau at an award luncheon March 22 in Helena where they will have the opportunity to tour the Capitol and meet with dignitaries.
Winning entries will be printed and distributed on usable items and educational materials. They will be posted on the Montana Farm Bureau website and Facebook page.
