It was a foggy journey up to Glasgow for the Wittkopp Angus 28th Annual Production Sale. But as expected the bulls were in clear view. These top end yearling bulls are carefully selected from the Wittkopp herd based on the traits necessary for survival in any ecosystem. These bulls wreaked with length and depth all on a moderate frame that contributed to the consistency in the sale. Here is the top end:
Ringing the bell at $13,500 for Lot 40, WIP Mabry 5163 was the William Omvig Estate of Kalispell, Montana. This Vermilion Mabry son posts EPDs of BW 2.5, WW 61, YW 105, and Milk 24. He weighed 85 pounds at birth on March 25, 2015, and 740 pounds when weaned.
Lot 17, WIP Identity 5051, sold for $9,500 to the Masser Ranch of Circle, Montana. This Ellingson Identity 9104 son was born weighing 89 pounds on March 13, 2015, and 770 pounds at weaning. He records EPDs of BW 2.2, WW 61, YW 102, and Milk 25.
Larry Switzer of Richie, Montana, found a stylish bull in Lot 59, WIP Upward 5224, for $9,000. This Sitz Upward 307R son was born March 28, 2015, at 83 pounds and weaned off at 790 pounds. His EPDs include BW 0.5, WW 65, YW 113, and Milk 33.
Lot 7, WIP Comrade 5022, was sold to Larry Roberton of Opheim, Montana, for $8,000. This Connealy Comrade 1385 son is a calving ease bull with EPDs of BW -0.9, WW 58, YW 106, and Milk 24. He was born March 8, 2015, at 77 pounds and weaned weighing 715 pounds.
Squeaking into the top end for $7,750 was Lot 46, WIP Priority 5182, with Callahan Belling of Richland, Montana,. This SAV Priority 7283 son recorded EPDs of BW 1.7, WW 57, YW 96, and Milk 20. He was born March, 2015, at 86 pounds and weaned at 730 pounds.
