World famous Priefert Percherons appearing at the Black Hills Stock Show for first time Jan. 27-29
There was a time when America relied on real horse power to move the nation. The Priefert Percherons are a living tribute to those days gone by. This magnificent group of black Percheron draft horses will be making an appearance at the Black Hills Stock Show Jan. 27-29.
Priefert and Black Hills Stock Show Rodeo want to share a bit of history with you by bringing their breathtaking draft horse hitch all the way from Mt. Pleasant, TX. These massive horses belong to a breed which originated in France and have been used as work horses in the U.S. for generations. Each horse weighs an average of 2,200 pounds and stands an average of 18 hands, 2 inches tall.
Priefert Percheron driver, Jason Goodman, has been working with draft horses most of his life. Goodman began driving as a child to feed his family’s livestock. He has driven the Priefert Hitch for audiences at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, the Denver National Western Stock Show & Rodeo, Bishop Mule Days, the Quarter Horse Congress, the International Rolex Competition and many other major horse fairs, parades and PRCA rodeos all across the U.S.
Priefert Manufacturing started in 1964 with Marvin Priefert producing and selling his first specially designed head gate. Marvin’s son Bill carried on the family vision, with the tradition ensured now that Bill’s sons, the third generation, have entered the business. What began as a one-man operation now employs more than 600 people with both domestic and international markets. The product line has grown to not only include cattle equipment, but also horse, dog, sheep and goat confinement and handling equipment, all of which is designed to make any rancher’s life easier. Priefert has also taken the rodeo equipment business by storm and is now the official equipment supplier for the PBR, the PRCA and the NFR just to name a few. Priefert Manufacturing is known as the innovative leader for quality and craftsmanship in the rodeo and ranch equipment industries.
The Priefert Percherons make numerous appearances at various Priefert dealers, rodeos and other special events all across the country. To make this travel possible, Priefert has custom-designed two 18-wheelers to accommodate all of the team’s traveling needs. These beautifully marked trailers are hard to miss. So watch for the Priefert Percherons to roll into town, and don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of this one of a kind experience.
