Outside Circle by Jan Swan Wood: Kids rodeo, big kids rodeo, bucking horse drive, HSUS investigation
The grass is sure growing and a few people have started cutting some alfalfa. We branded on Sunday and put the cows back where they were before the floods. I was so grateful for the rain that I didn’t even mind digging the fences out of the muck and fixing them. We’re on track for a nice summer.

The U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration has agreed to investigate HSUS’s tax exempt status as well as the IRS’s Lois Lerner and her involvement in not doing an investigation when it was originally requested. Of course, she’s being investigated for the IRS targeting of non-profit organizations that didn’t jive with D.C.’s powers that be. Lerner, incidentally, is an active member of HSUS. Go figger.
The Buster McLaury Clinic that was postponed from May has been rescheduled for Aug. 1-4. It’s to be held at Brad and Beca Andrew’s place north of Red Owl, S.D., out in the big country with room to breath and ride. Both colt starting and horsemanship are being offered for $475 each. A deposit is required, so call Brad at 605-515-0088 or Beca at 605-515-0027. You’ll never go to a better clinic and it’s a rare opportunity to work with a horseman of Buster’s calibre.
