Cattle are the main event at 25th annual Heart City Bull Bash

Valentine, Nebraska celebrated its “Main” event on Saturday, February 14th.
The 25th annual Heart City Bull Bash was a huge success with a beautiful warm sunny day and a large attendance.
The weekend actually kicked off on Friday with livestock judging for 4-H, FFA and college teams coming from across Nebraska and several other states. The event was a great opportunity for the future cattlemen and cattlewomen to sharpen their skills judging different age groups of cattle. Competitors and sponsors all agreed it was an educational and enjoyable day.
On Saturday many activities were held downtown Valentine including Running with the Bulls. A 5K run/walk. The Peoples’ Choice Quilt Show, Sand Painters Art Show and wine tasting. Tasty meal specials were offered in numerous locations throughout the day. Dummy roping and stick horse barrel racing were fun events for kids. Businesses downtown offered many in-store specials.
The popular vendor show was held in the former Shopko building with 35 vendors. Shoppers were happy with the variety and selections available.
But the highlight of the day were the bulls penned on Main Street and the commercial displays. Livestock producers and visitors to Valentine got the chance to view outstanding herd sires and bulls for sale along with ranch equipment.
Secretary and a director of Bull Bash, Kim Jeffers commented afterward. “The 25th annual Heart City Bull Bash was an outstanding success with over 20 pens of bulls. Almost 70 degree temperature brought lots of people downtown to view the bulls and enjoy the festivities associated with Bull Bash.”
Valentine, located in Cherry County, looks forward to next years Bull Bash.
