Obituary: ELAINE GLEE YACKLEY

February 14, 1941 – April 8, 2026

Elaine Glee Yackley, age 85, of Onida, was called home to be with the Lord on April 8, 2026, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, surrounded by her loving family. Family will greet visitors 5:00-6:30pm, Sunday, April 19, 2026 at the Sully Buttes School Gymnasium with a Prayer Service concluding the evening at 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00am, Monday, April 20, 2026 at the Sully Buttes School Gymnasium with burial following at the Onida Cemetery. Elaine’s Funeral Mass will also be broadcast live at http://www.feigumfh.com.
Elaine was born to Harold and Angelene Peterson on February 14, 1941, a day that fittingly reflected the love she would spend her life giving to others. She grew up in the Chamberlain area where she attended country school and Chamberlain High School.
In the spring of 1961, Elaine was united in marriage to the love of her life, Bob Yackley from Onida. Together they shared 65 years of marriage and their partnership was a true testament to unwavering love, faith, and commitment.
Elaine’s greatest joy was her family. She was a constant loving presence in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was their biggest supporter, attending countless games, concerts, and events; she rarely missed a moment. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and made each person feel cherished, celebrated, and deeply loved.
She also had a special love for her community. Living in a small town, Elaine cherished the people around her and found joy in being involved and connected, especially in the St. Pius X Catholic church and its activities. Most people in town knew her as “Grandma Elaine.” She truly loved everyone in her community and was known for her kindness, warmth, and willingness to care for others.
Elaine had a gift for hospitality that made everyone feel like family. Her brownies were well known and highly requested, becoming a local favorite. She delighted in welcoming not only her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but also their friends, into her home for goulash or malts, always making sure no one left hungry.
Those who knew Elaine will remember her for her kind spirit, her enduring faith in God and her church, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched.
She is lovingly survived by her husband Bob, her sons Steve (Carla), Todd (Tanya), and Mike (Kellie), her grandchildren Alexis (Cliff) Warner, Ryan (Xandria) Yackley, Donnie Yackley, Nicole Yackley, Rachel (Shane) Hennen, Sara (Tyler) Renze, Blake (Kayla) Yackley, Sasha Yackley, Wayne (special friend Roz) Yackley, Spencer (Tina) Yackley, Brielle (Travor) Bohle, Alex Thorson, Jaxon (Briseida) Yackley, and 21 great-grandchildren with two more on the way. She is also survived by her brother Rod (Wendy) Peterson and their sons, Chisum (Cindy), Cade, and Quin (Kelly) and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Angelene, Bob’s parents Ben and Vi Yackley, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandchildren Mary Kristine Yackley (Steve) and Rachel Elaine Yackley (Mike).
