Qynn Andersen takes Lawton, Oklahoma, Xtreme Bulls crown
All Qynn Andersen could do Saturday following his 89-point ride on Championship Pro Rodeo’s Guess Who the night before in Lawton, Okla., was switch his focus to San Angelo (Texas) and hope his score held up.
He knew, however, that was a tall ask.
The second night of Lawton Xtreme Bulls — part of the Rank 45 Xtreme Bulls Series — featured 2025 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo average champion T.J. Gray, as well as 2024 PRCA Bull Riding World Champion Josh Frost.
Other big names, including the current No. 2 bull rider in the PRCA | Bill Fick Ford World Standings Tristen Hutchings, were also scheduled to exit the bucking chutes at the Comanche County Fairgrounds Saturday night. But with each buck off and qualified ride, Andersen’s score remained at the top of the leaderboard to secure the Lawton Xtreme Bulls title.
“It’s a great feeling,” Andersen said. “Competing with those guys is something I expect from myself every time. I just try to do a little better every time and just do my job.”
Andersen spoke highly of Guess Who, a bull that had been ridden five times in 15 outs before Andersen’s 89-point ride Friday night.
Before that, the bull’s last qualified ride came in Round 2 of the 2025 NFR, when Gray matched him for 89 points. In a way, it was redemption for Andersen. He matched with Guess Who at the Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup presented by Texas Precious Metals last September but was bucked off.
Matching that bull, especially one that could become a frequent addition to the NFR stock roster, comes with a sense of pride.
“He’s a real good bull every time he gets into the chute,” Andersen said. “I’m just glad I had him and I could make it work.”
The win comes during a pivotal time for the 22-year-old Aussie. He currently sits just outside the Top 15 at No. 17 overall with $38,775 in total earnings for 2026.
But the $17,766 payday in Lawton moves Andersen to No. 12. It’s still early in the season, especially with the summer run and Cowboy Christmas looming, but going toe-to-toe with some of the best bull riders in the world — just under four months removed from doing it under the bright lights of the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas — has once again instilled confidence into Andersen.
“Whenever you can do your job and win, it feels good,” Andersen said, adding that a win during this part of the season helps mentally. “It just makes everything better and it keeps me a little level-headed. No matter what happens you just have to keep a good attitude and always learn and look forward to the next thing.”
