Senate to vote next week on USDA, USTR nominations

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., filed cloture Thursday on a measure for the Senate to vote on 97 of President Trump’s nominations for positions that require Senate confirmation, setting the stage for a final vote next week. The nominees include Michael Selig to be a member of and chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Mindy Brashears as Agriculture undersecretary for food safety, Stella Yvette Herrell as Agriculture assistant secretary for congressional affairs and external relations, and Joh Walk to serve as Agriculture Department inspector general.The package also includes Julie Callahan to be chief agricultural negotiator in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
