Amid a flood of some of the best bull riders in the PRCA, 19-year-old Eyer Morrison took the win at the Sisters Rodeo Xtreme Bull Riding aboard Corey & Lange Rodeo’s Kiss the Fire Wednesday night.

The Resistol Rookie put up an 87-point ride to seal the win at the Sisters Rodeo Xtreme Bull Riding and claim his share of the $35,000 in added money. This win only adds to an incredible month for Morrison, who has won more than $10,000 in the past two weeks.

“It’s been more than I can ask for,” Morrison said. “I’ve been drawing well, and the Lord has been blessing me. It’s been awesome.”

Kiss the Fire was the perfect dancing partner for Morrison, as the pair rocketed to the top of the standings. The bull was exactly the type Morrison prefers, he said.

“He goes around to the left and sucks back a little bit. He felt awesome,” Morrison said. “I wouldn’t have hand picked a different one.”

Morrison just finished his freshman year of college, and he’s already competing alongside Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifiers and world champions. Despite that pressure though, he has performed well and earned solid paychecks at several major rodeos, including Rodeo Austin, where he finished second in the finals.

“Being young, I haven’t put much too much pressure on myself,” Morrison said. “But it’s definitely a little bit intimidating sometimes seeing world champions sitting next to your gear bag.”

Morrison filled his permit at the Sandhills Stock Show & Rodeo in Odessa, Texas, in January, and decided to buy his PRCA card soon after. His eyes are already set on competing in Las Vegas in December.

“I’m trying to make it to the NFR,” Morrison said. “That’s the goal right now.”

Morrison currently sits just inside the top 50 in the PRCA | Bill Fick Ford World Standings and he has won some circuit money competing in the Columbia River circuit as well.

The next stop for the young cowboy, though, is the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo. Morrison competes for Western Texas College in Snyder, Texas, and he will represent the school at the CNFR this coming week.

With confidence and plenty of momentum, Morrison continues to make the most of his rookie campaign.
